Why doesn't everyone copy the AACs from all of their iTunes purchasing friends. Have those friends authorize that machine, and then go buy a ZOOM or whatever. Let MS scan for purchased tracks, and then pay $100's in licensing fees for the one purchased zoon. Then, pass the zuun onto a friend so they can do the same.
Only available once? Resell on eBay and at least that is 1 less new one being purchased and produced. (Plus then THEY'LL be pissed they can't get all their itunes songs in zuun format for free, haha!)

Quite a bit here. And this coming from Proud Mac owners, and Apple supporters.
1 > The Intel CPU or platform change is gonna make HUGE strides over to Mac OS X. Multiple OS' on one machine is just pure bliss. I've got 3 ppl at work considering the switch all because of the XEON cpu & the ability to run 3 OS (MS Vista, Linux of their choice, and finally MAC OS X); but their just considering because they'll need to upgrade their hardware regardless.
2> The MacBook Pro is due for a case colour change or revision. Its basically the PowerBook G4's case with an iSight, save for MagLite and few other things. But what will Apple make of the case? Polycarbonate, Magnesium Alloy with carbonfibre chassis? Better heat dissappation?
3> Mac Pro; great case. Its not gonna change anytime soon, and I for one realize its Apple's Monolith machine. Heck if you dont want your G5 PowerMac or Mac Pro I'll be more than gratuitous in receiving it as a hand-me-down.
4> I think this qtr we'll see a slowdown of iPod Nano sales due to the new aluminum enclosure, doesnt have that esthetic appeal to it; but its personal preference.
With MW07 quickly approaching, I think the Mac Pro will get significant sales from those that are waiting, due to recent purchases - cleaning out their old G4 PowerMac closets to make way for new Xeon Core 2 Duo machines.
With Vista awaiting to be released, I really think Apple should align their Marketing campaign to be double sided. Either cheeky to poke fun at lack of innovation and revolution to the Vista OS - but NOT at the user! Remember its actually a benefit that the end user can use the Mac Pro or Mac Book series & iMac to install Vista should the user choose to. Market this as a choice something the end user doesnt get at the office ;) Secondly I think Apple should REALLY push the features, power, security, frequent updates to improve an owners system, ALL as a viable reason to own & use both the Mac & OS X! I thought OS X is supposed to sell the hardware, well damnit Apple ADVERTISE IT!
Bring in the big guns Apple to SHOW consumers, small business', family's etc. Get Software companies to advertise how powerful, efficient and productive their products are. How efficient users are USING the Mac. Come up with a low budget, effective direct perspective of how the Mac OS X is. Appeal to the IT Professional, appeal to the family, appeal to the rebel youth, appeal to the manager of a SOHO business, highlight business partners success that use your hardware to make their success.

Some people are lying themselves. Of course every high-end laptop will be like the MBA in few-several years. That is the point, getting slimmer, portable and more and more powerful. That's the ideal laptop.
So a MBA with better GPU/CPU is always welcomed.

The Vista EULA has been modified, presumably to relax the restrictions on reinstalling Vista and upgrading hardware... No changes to the limitations on virtualization for Home Basic and Home Premuim.

When Microsoft claim that their investment might not pay off for five years, they're paving the way for failure. For the next two or three years, when pressed about the lack of profits, they can claim that the payoff will be in a couple of years from then. They won't have to actually admit that they've failed until after 2010. It's not dissimilar to Bill Gates claiming that there's an 80% chance of Vista shipping on time, it sounds positive, but few people believe it actually will ship in January. It's just paving the way for the next excuse.
It's very important that Microsoft try very hard with Zune. They keep claiming that the iPod succeeded simply because of slick marketing, whereas everybody else knows that it succeeded by being an attractive proposition, combining style with ease of use. It was word-of-mouth publicity that really worked for the iPod. You can't buy that, it added massive value to the money that was spent on advertising.
So here's Microsoft's opportunity to look at the last five years of the iPod, together with three years of iTMS, take it all in and apply their 'innovation', show us the ultimate product and then spend a fortune marketing it. There must be no doubt that Microsoft must be seen to throw everything into this project. Then Steve Jobs will be delighted to rise to the challenge and delight in humiliating Bill Gates.

Not only is Microsoft uncool, it doesn't understand what IS cool.
Meanwhile, Apple is a huge corporation, and yet even people who hate large corporation love Apple. Apple knows how to market. Apple continuously sets the standard for good design year in, year out.
Steve Jobs is cool. He's funny. Most people just think Bill Gates, though simply a figurehead now, is the devil (despite that recent huge charitable donation). Steve Ballmer is an oaf. Microsoft has neither the image or the talent to fight this battle. Hell, they've even started to slowly lose the grip on the industry that once held them so dear�business computing.

My HTC Touch Pro 2 supports all frequencies and networks, both GSM and CDMA. This seems perfectly feasible to me, as does creating an iPhone that supports all carriers.

Apple would get slaughtered if it entered the TV market. In order to compete with the big boys apple needs to actually own facilities that manufacture flat panels unless it wants to compete on the bottom end with vizio at walmart.

With AT&T being the cell phone carrier that charges the most, they should be EXPECTED to provide the best quality service in the industry. If AT&T thinks 30% of all calls being dropped is "normal," this is absolutely unacceptable! So this means that of every ten phone calls to 911, 3 being dropped is "normal" and acceptable????? And major corporations with thousands of employees are supposed to sign up for cell service with AT&T, knowing that 30% of all calls (with customers) being dropped is, in AT&T's eyes, acceptable???????? :eek: :eek: :eek:

And the 30% is for the NYC metro area, which is has about 20 million other people within a few blocks making calls on their cells too, which creates quite a bit of confusion, signal wise. And lets not forget the buildings, and their makeup of steel/iron frames. And then all the WiFi signal that is being broadcasted around.
SO yeah there is quite a bit of a hurdle there, but what is even more interesting is what is Verizon, T-Mobile, etc acceptable rate of dropped calls for NYC area? Do you think any lower? I would happily pay the current fee for MobileMe if Apple offered some better options for hosting a website. Right now I pay for web hosting for a family blog and a flickr pro account. If I could host my wordpress blog on my idisk space with my own domain name, I would sign up right now.

I can understand not being able to send videos or download content quickly, but to not perform the most basic function of a PHONE is pretty crappy for a PHONE service provider ... even in a densely populated area ... I mean for that cost, what exactly is the consumer paying for? Only AT&T and meteorologists get away with being so crappy on a regular basis

As a frequent user of Pages 2, I would like more toolbars and less of the 'inspector' stuff, which to me is not as convenient.
Get used to more Inspectors with Tab Views and less Toolbars. Cocoa apps are designed with Inspector Views.

but who would want to have a full featured iTunes when you still haven't solved the problem of typing. The most efficient part for me is to type out what you're looking for. I do, however, see the advantage to making playlists more efficiently on the go, giving you the ability to shuffle anything you choose, not just "All Songs" which is a bother. :)Text input can be addressed in a lot of different ways. Bluetooth portable keyboards, for example. If I got a tablet, I'd also get myself a foldable keyboard to take along with me. Or you can make do with a virtual keyboard activated by gestures (2nd image):

I've had AT&T and the iPhone for a week now. I've experienced about 4 dropped calls thus far, 3 of them were in downtown San Francisco. My calls rarely last over 5 minutes, but 2 of the dropped calls happened as I was dialing out. 1 dropped call was after 4 minutes on the phone, and I can't remember when the last dropped call happened.
That said, I've probably made and received a total of 150 calls in the past week, so a 3% dropped call ratio isn't too terrible.

Yes.
As for some results, I really can't post performance results, but I can say that this competition in the virtualization market is good and we should be getting an excellent product for VMware (hopefully, if they give us a more of a workstation than a player).

Maybe I need more RAM, but I was dissapointed to be reminded of Virtual PC, the way it totally slows the rest of my Mac down...
If you are going to run two operating systems then your computer needs to have the resources for the sum of the two systems. I posted before that in my biased opinion, I think it makes a lot of sense to get a new Air in time for the college discount program (i reckon the college demographic is aware of Intel's core duo vs i5 / i7 marketing) especially since i'd imagine the the Air has much higher margins than MBPs.
Regarding the graphics capabilities, you can't use the Samsung as a benchmark because of how differently OSX and Windows behave. I'd be really surprised if Apple didn't have some sort of trick, either hardware, or drivers to beat the current graphics capability at least on paper or some obscure benchmark. Even if they didn't, the amount of time you'd benefit from a better GPU over better CPU would be miniscule in almost all tasks like iLife programs, 99% of applications and even Photoshop (despite being gpu accelerated). If you are playing games... i might be able to see the argument.
