I'll probably do the business card for this guy, but if he approaches me with any larger projects, I'll most likely turn him down. :)

The larger projects are the ones you make your money on. Little jobs sometimes hardly warrant all the time in initial consultation, doing quotes, invoices, possibly banking cheques and other admin. So don't necessarily turn down good work, but just make sure you're setting your prices, not him. Charge him for every minute of author's corrections too, and make sure that's written on the quote that he signs to accept the job.

Oh, and I forgot to say before, if you do decide to take on any more work from him, make sure you get paid for these jobs first! He could be a non-payer, and then you'll really know what a nightmare client is all about!

I'll be headin there once I get out of class at noon-ish xD hope to see you guys there!

(I thought about going to Best Buy, Target, Wal-Mart or whatever, but, as they're all releasing them at the same time, might as well be where the fanfare is.)

This is nice to know. I use Lotus Notes at my work on Windows. It's decent enough, but I hope that with this new version the online experience with accessing my work email remotely with my mac improves. As it is right now, it's basically unusable.

    (Nuclear Bomb Chart)

I have heard that just one can ruin your day. OTOH, Turanga Leela did say that nuclear winter canceled out global warming.

I'm switching a lot this month, but here's one more. This one I put together as a Keynote slide for church this weekend, and thought it'd make a good desktop. I might make a series of these.

So because you don't like Financial Times it's okay for everyone that they are holding out iPad subscriptions. This is exactly what's wrong with you Apple fanboys.

You should be penalizing Apple for allowing this to happen. but instead you jump for joy.

...clearly you dont value your privacy as much as i do. *i* want to own my customer data. *i* want to decide who gets to use it.. i do *not* want a newspaper to own and sell my data to others.

thus, im pleased w/ iOS policies, at the expense of devious marketeers.

Before Lee's undies self-contort into yet another sheepshank, why don't we go to the sources rather than a secondhand blog?

The NYT covered the story (http://www.nytimes.com/2011/03/09/us/09assault.html?_r=1) (sorry, couldn't find the original).

The part of the article relevant to the topic at hand:
Residents in the neighborhood where the abandoned trailer stands known as the Quarters said the victim had been visiting various friends there for months. They said she dressed older than her age, wearing makeup and fashions more appropriate to a woman in her 20s. She would hang out with teenage boys at a playground, some said.

Where was her mother? What was her mother thinking? said Ms. Harrison, one of a handful of neighbors who would speak on the record. How can you have an 11-year-old child missing down in the Quarters?

Note that this is most likely from where the representative from Florida got her information and was paraphrasing, albeit with poor word choice.

Now then, a follow up from the NYT public editor (http://publiceditor.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/03/11/gang-rape-story-lacked-balance/):
The Times, responding to a wave of complaints, issued a statement Wednesday saying, Nothing in our story was in any way intended to imply that the victim was to blame. Neighbors comments about the girl, which we reported in the story, seemed to reflect concern about what they saw as a lack of supervision that may have left her at risk.

Of course, this begs the question of why a publication as liberal as the NYT would want to break with a generation or more of tradition and even hint at the insinuation that the victim was to blame?

For that, we have to go to the UK's Daily Mail (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1365112/Horrific-gang-rape-18-men-girl-11-Texas-sparks-racial-tension.html)

I guess the Times was stuck between blaming the victim and having another Jena 6 story on their hands.

Thank you, Apple, for weeding out the companies whose business model depends on selling my information to junk-mailers.

How do you define a criminal act?

Criminal: a person who has committed a crime
Crime: an action or omission that constitutes an offense that may be prosecuted by the state and is punishable by law; illegal activities

    1. Are the terrorists captured during firefights with US soldiers criminals or soldiers, and why?
    2. If North Korea launched a missile against the USA tomorrow, is that a criminal act or an act of war, and why?
    3. If Al Qaeda launched a missile against the USA tomorrow, is that a criminal act or an act of war, and why?
    4. When the USA dropped nuclear bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in WW2, was that a criminal act or an act of war, and why?
    5. When the Allied forces raised Dresden to the ground in WW2, was that a criminal act or an act of war, and why?

I don't really see your point here. But...

    1. Saying a terrorist is a criminal or a soldiers is quite irrelevant. A terrorist in the USA who is trying to explode a bomb is a criminal. Also, being a soldier doesn't means you can't be a criminal.

    2. Again, an act of war can be at the same time a criminal act. Suppose country X and Y are both countries in Europe, and X attacks Y because they felt like doing it, that is an act of war AND a criminal act. If Y attacks back, that is also an act of war, but not a criminal act, because they are defending themselves.

    3. Same as #2. The only thing that could change is your perception of an "act of war". Is it only considered act of war when it happens between two countries? Or a group not related to any government attacking a country is also an act of war?

    4. It depends. Was the USA defending themselves, or were they just doing it without any reason behind? This is a completely new topic, but if it helps for anything, Japan was the one who attacked first, without any real reason behind.

    5. Same as #4.

If you justify torture to prevent death of innocent people, where do you draw the line? 1,000 people, 100 people, 1 person?

If it were up to me, one person would be enough. The line is not in the amount of people being saved, but in the fact that the person (criminal) who is behind this attack plans, has become a treat to the security of your people.

What if the person you are torturing is innocent?

I did said that I wouldn't support torturing innocent people.

What if your torture helps the terrorists recruit more terrorists and the result is more, not less, bloodshed?

What if not doing so (torture) means that the terrorist group achieves their objective, and continue doing the same again and again?

So lets do medical testing on criminals, thats ok right?

No, because what the criminals did has nothing to do with medical diseases. In the other hand, they did made something against the law in formulating or being part of a terrorist plan, of which they have knowledge. And that knowledge might lead you to prevent this terrorist act to be executed.

wow that is tempting! i'm tellin ya, if you can afford it, gotta get that EVGA SR-2!

Don't you need the equivalent Xeon processors for the SR2?

Yeah that would go so beautifully in my Lian Li case  I'd spend $200 if I can fine one for that price.

I upgraded my 2011 Macbook Pro memory to 8gb and have 2x2GB available. Can I use these in my new 2011 IMac 21.5 in addition to the 4GB that is in their already? The specs I find look the same/similar. This would give me 8GB (4x2 pairs).

    Thanks

Unfortunately, facts do not matter to these people, as most IT departments are clueless about TCO.
The companies that switch to Mac either have smart IT people or have Mac / iPad using executives that push the IT departments to go Mac.

Btw, human aspects seems to do better than facts. Example, white house mac,

    Nintento CEO uses mac:
