We will we be getting the full Adobe experience with this, such as having to re-install the OS each time an upgrade or patch is released?

It goes to show you that they can still make a profit with $100 off. I guess the price gouging by Apple continues.
Not at all, companies sell things at a loss very often this time of year to get people in the door. It's called a loss leader.

Welp... Got Notes 7.02 today.
Visually, it looks "fatter". The fonts are more substantial. Almost bold in look. It also looks more "modern" if you will.. or more "mac-like".
The installer actually uses the default OS X installer. That's nice.
The whole BS "Lotus Notes" directory with all it's turds is replaced by a nice Notes.app applicaiton bundle. That's nice.
They added Safari as an option for URL handlers. That's nice.
It upgraded 6.5.x just fine, though I had moved my data directory to my home directory a while back, not sure (yet) how the upgrade will go if one's data directory still exists in the app's hierarchy.
It IS a Universal Binary! WooHoo!! That's REALLY nice!
It's still a carbon app. That's NOT nice. You'll notice the old MacOS watch icon. A sure sign of a carbonized app.
It still uses BinHex 4.0 as the default Mac attachment encoder. That's NOT nice.
I don't know how it handles emails with embeded java or HTML (I'm sure other users have experienced Notes crashes when reading some emails with HTML in them). Wait and see on that one.
It seems to be a bit faster, despite being a carbon app still. Wait and see on that one.
Well good to hear there are some improvements. Will have to see about downloading this today.

Come on guys! We gotta get crankin' out WUs again! We seem to have lost a lot of that steam that we had a month or two ago. Losing bigadv for OS X has been an issue, hopefully we will get a new client soon!
I am disappointed that my output has dropped, especially over the last few days...I reformatted my computer, but I should be back up now. In a few weeks, after I am done with this Final Cut project, I might boot into Windows and crank out some bigadvs + GPU to give us a boost.

I really like those apps too but they aren't free... $25 for Little Snitch and $50 for Dvd2OneX.... isn't this a "free" apps/tools thread? On Windows, i use DVDShrink which is similar to Dvd2OneX but completely freeware... anything like that for Mac? And Little snitch functionality is in many free firewall programs for windows (Zonealarm for instance)... any on Mac that are free?
yeah...sorry... silly me... i use dvd2onex and i didnt pay for it...must be a trial type of thing... as is little snitch....sorry about that...silly me

I thought it was an amazing keynote, because I truly believe the iphone will in-fact be revolutionary! Look at the UIs on almost all of today's phones and they pretty much universally stink. This is going to cause the cell phone industry to take a long hard look at their own products and push harder.
I think it's funny that many posts on these boards talk about the excellent value for the Mac Pro (decked out, costing > $4k!), but balk at a $600 phone. This after they've probably dropped $100 on thier existing phone, and $300 on their ipod. For an extra $200, wouldn't you like to have the sexiest phone on the planet. Furthermore, if you're me, your sick to death of carrying two damn devices around every day anyway.
The other thing that amazes me is just how addicted we've become to the carrier-driven cell phone business model in the US. I live in China now, and I cannot tell you how many employees I have who make < $1k / month (and these are highly paid engineers here) that carry $500 cell phones. People in many other parts of the world are USED to buying cell phones for the "real" price - very very often $300 or $400 dollars.
And for that, what do you get - a MAJOR shift in the balance of power between mfg's and carriers. The carriers are now begging and scratching for business. Consequently it is one of the LEAST complicated things you can do (in China) - get a cell phone. In 90 seconds, I can (anonymously) get a new number and a few hours of calling time for about $20. There is almost not a store I can walk into where it isn't possible to do this. Shove in the SIM card and I'm done.
Jesus I wish the US was like that (wrt cell phone service). The hoops you have to jump through to get even pre-paid service in the US are truly ridiculous. If there is a major disappointment for me about this keynote, it's that it looks like the iphone will be carrier locked at least until '08, but we'll see. I was hoping Apple would sell the phones unlocked, and start the migration in the US away from carrier subsidies.

This is a sandbox with a bunch of kids screaming my dad is better than yours...
Coming here and crying that your device is better you just prove to be absolute idiots. And I'm not talking as from insulting point of view. I'm just stating the obvious which points to the fact that you were born without most braincells needed for basic functions such as common sense. I really want to see the look on your face the day you will realise that.
Well said:-)
This is like watching dogs in a who can piss higher contest.
Intelligent people absorb information and adjust what they buy based on what they need and what works for them, regardless of who makes the product.
I don't understand why people care who have no horse in this race. We don't get any of their profits, so whether somebody sells millions of iphones or 350 k Androids a day, all the same to me.
All I want is a product that works, integrated with the rest of the things I do and Apple does that well.
If that ever changes I am not too proud to say it's time to switch.

I work for an AT&T retailer and YES we do offer insurance on the iphone. ATT will NOT insure it due to the overwhelming demand for it, they would lose so much money forked out to ppl for stolen iPhones. Apple Care is NOT insurance it is just an extended warranty!
Warranty covers only manufacturer's defects (which are very rare)
Insurance covers a phone that has been lost, dropped, stolen, dropped in the toilet, any sort of physical or water damage! If you are lucky enough to get the iPhone for the subsidized price it won't happen again. If your phone stops working for or you break it or lose it you will be paying the "No commitment" price and in the case of the iPhone they are upwards of $399.99 and $499.99.
Protect your investment for a fraction of the cost!
$69.95 plus tax for one year of protection
$119.95 plus tax for two years.
If you have to file a claim there is a $50 deductable...
With insurance:
So if you get an 8GB iPhone for $199.99 and your dog eats it in six months you paid $199.99 for phone, $69.95 for insurance (one year coverage) and $50 for the deductable which totals $319.94 for two phones..
Without insurance:
$199.99 for 8GB iPhone and same scenario your dog eats it in six months you pay $399.99 for the new iPhone which totals $599.98 which is $280.04 more..
This is all assuming that they will have the phones at $399.99 for the un-subsidized price.. Rumor has it that they will be higher if you have to buy a replacement phone (no commitment price)
Moral of the story is INSURE YOUR PHONE!
You must do it within 30 days of the original purchase!
Information needed for insurance:
IMEI# (serial # on back of iPhone)
Receipt # for your purchase
Cell phone number the iPhone was purchased on
Address
Email address (for email confirmation)
Valid Credit or Debit card for over the phone purchase.
After transaction we will provide you with a policy number and email confirmation. Following you will also get a hard copy confirmation in the mail.

Don't install anything from that repo. It all has to do with pirating and such stuff is not allowed to be discussed on this forum.
