An "average" sustainable long distance pace (12km/h, about 8mph) will burn through about 1000 calories an hour. I suspect she's not running quite that much ;)
I seem to remember people out in the Arctic / Antartic tend to eat ~ 6000 calories a day, since so much is lost due to cold, etc. Maybe she lives in her fridge most of the day? (Which would explain the calorie intake too!) :)

Traditionally the Eskimo's ate 6000 calories a day... mostly animal fat. They needed that much to survive a hunter gatherer lifestyle in a very cold climate.

Setting aside the question of no VM at all, has it occurred to anyone that having a restriction on running in a VM even on the licensed machine could put a damper on the idea of having Parallels (or VMWare) be able to start up off of the BootCamp partition? As that's an ability that I've been wanting, that's something that bothers me about this....

Amazon sells mostly LAME encoded 256kbs mp3 files, which are pretty comparable to the AAC files ITMS sells. AAC may have a slight advantage (for example see http://www.head-fi.org/forum/thread/271330/256-vbr-aac-vs-320-mp3-vs-256-vbr-mp3#post_3459768), but not much.

MBP = 4 years old
iMac = 3 years old
And both will be upgraded to Lion. No problems yet , even 1080p content plays well, slight lag to catch up when RWD or FF other than that no problems. :)
mine completely chokes at 1080p unless im real lucky. Again 720p is usually okay, but if the processor is getting a workout, it can struggle.

It looks like the menu text default has dropped from 14pt Lucida Grande in Tiger to 13pt Lucida Grande in Leopard -- a welcome change.

I'm not sure at what price point predatory pricing becomes an issue, but I would think that Amazon may have crossed that line.
Predatory pricing becomes an issue for Amazon after it dominates the market place and sets its prices significantly lower than the competition in an attempt to drive them out of business. So, let Amazon capture 70% or 80% more of the legal music download market and then maybe bring up predatory pricing.
If Amazon is selling music at a loss per song, then the FTC might have a say about that.
Has no one in this thread heard of a 'loss leader' before? Movie tickets at a theater? Loss leader. Gas from a gas station? Loss leader. Anything on sale (especially Black Friday)? Loss leader. iTunes Store? Yup, some loss leading going on there too.

I used Pages to do a college term paper which was over 40 pages long. My lecturer commented it was the best presented he had seen for years.
But how much of that is Pages? Not trying to knock you down, but my last short story was 27 pages, double spaced, and used a 12 pt. Times New Roman font. There's not much room for pizazz there. I don't see how Pages as it exists right now could have helped.

Fired up my copy of Knoppix 5 (don't ask). This thing is FAST. Makes Parallels look so slow, doesn't eat up as much memory. Issues so far is the 2-finger scrolling is off a little bit, and the trackpad right clicking is off a little bit. These are only preliminary results, I'll go more indepth later on. So take these results with a grain of salt, for now.
Loaded up 2 Folding@Home clients up to really burn this baby in.
QUESTION: Can you just use a 2-3 button mouse instead of the trackpad and avoid the hassle? I'd hate t go back to keyboard or trackpad usage for day-to-day.

Can someone confirm there isn't going to be a to-do list in Lion? This is ridiculous!
Before I scare everyone, maybe I need to get my facts straight... is there one? I certainly couldn't find any on the iOS version, which is why I bought a program called Todo (by Appigo) to handle that functionality on my iPad. Since I'm on the go far more often than I'm at my desk, this is where I've been keeping my to-do items. That and Google Calendar.
So I guess what I'm really asking for is integrated to-do list support on the iOS calendar.

If I look at people with their iphones, i see like less than 5% using anything on their phones. And all of them use the Apple bumper on some iphone 4. I've seen hundreds of iphones in the wild, but I still have to see one non-bumper case in the wild.

I use a case so it doesn't get as damaged in my pocket, and in the event you drop the device, there may be some saving grace that it doesn't shatter the glass.

I'm planning on heading to the Game Farm (like a zoo run by the Department of Fish and Wildlife) tomorrow morning, so hopefully I will have a bunch of new stuff to share.
